What this destination requires

Dogs and Cats An import permit is required for pet dogs and cats from the United States to enter Tanzania.

Interested pet owners should contact the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries, Veterinary Investigation Centre (VIC) of the United Republic of Tanzania for more information.

The veterinary health certificate below is required, must be issued by a USDA accredited veterinarian, and endorsed by USDA-APHIS.

CDC high-risk for dog rabies. CDC lists Tanzania (Including Zanzibar) as high risk for dog rabies, which affects bringing a dog back into the United States.
