Pet relief area & accessibility
Tokyo Narita (NRT) maintains an outdoor pet relief area at the Animal Quarantine Service building near the cargo complex, which serves both inbound pets clearing Japanese quarantine and outbound pets being prepared for international cargo shipments. The passenger terminal does not currently have post-security pet relief areas because Japanese law requires almost all pets to be processed by the Animal Quarantine Service, which is located outside the passenger terminal. Service-dog handlers can request assistance at any airline counter and an Aviation Security officer will escort them to the nearest outdoor area at Terminals 1, 2, or 3.

Before you fly
Confirm your airline's pet program before you book — every carrier publishes a slightly different cabin carrier limit, in-cabin pet count, and breed-restriction list. Browse the airline pet policies for the carrier you plan to fly, and review the guides library for country-specific import rules and carrier preparation tips. The information on this page is editorial and should be confirmed with the airport's official passenger services desk before travel.
