Pet relief area & accessibility
London Heathrow (LHR) does not currently maintain dedicated indoor pet relief areas in any of its five terminals because UK biosecurity rules require almost all pets to enter the country as cargo through the Heathrow Animal Reception Centre rather than through the passenger terminal. Service animals accompanying passengers with disabilities can be relieved on the outdoor curb at every terminal — the most convenient outdoor grass area is at Terminal 5 near the short-stay car park. Owners shipping pets through Heathrow as cargo through IAG Cargo, BA World Cargo, or another carrier should contact the Heathrow Animal Reception Centre at +44 20 8745 7894 in advance to confirm collection arrangements; pets cleared through the Animal Reception Centre cannot be picked up at the passenger terminal.

Before you fly
Confirm your airline's pet program before you book — every carrier publishes a slightly different cabin carrier limit, in-cabin pet count, and breed-restriction list. Browse the airline pet policies for the carrier you plan to fly, and review the guides library for country-specific import rules and carrier preparation tips. The information on this page is editorial and should be confirmed with the airport's official passenger services desk before travel.
