Pet relief area & accessibility
Hong Kong International (HKG) processes inbound and outbound pets through the Cathay Pacific Cargo Terminal's dedicated live-animal facility, separate from the passenger terminal. Hong Kong's Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department requires inbound pets to hold a valid import permit, an ISO microchip, and a current rabies vaccination; pets from Group I countries (rabies-free) skip quarantine, while pets from Group II and Group III countries must complete a quarantine period at the AFCD facility. Cabin pets are not permitted on Cathay Pacific or other Hong Kong carriers other than approved assistance dogs.

Before you fly
Confirm your airline's pet program before you book — every carrier publishes a slightly different cabin carrier limit, in-cabin pet count, and breed-restriction list. Browse the airline pet policies for the carrier you plan to fly, and review the guides library for country-specific import rules and carrier preparation tips. The information on this page is editorial and should be confirmed with the airport's official passenger services desk before travel.
