Pet relief area & accessibility
Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson (ATL) operates pet relief areas in every concourse (T, A, B, C, D, E, F) post-security as well as outdoor relief areas on the lower-level baggage claim curb. The post-security relief areas are signed as "Service Animal Relief Area" and contain synthetic turf, a fire-hydrant marker, a hand-washing station, and a self-flushing waste system. ATL is the busiest passenger airport in the world, so plan to use the relief area during your concourse layover rather than at the gate, and budget extra time for the inter-terminal Plane Train if your relief stop is not in the same concourse as your departure gate. ATL also publishes a downloadable Service Animal & Pet Relief Area map on its official website that you can show to security officers if you are challenged about your route.

Before you fly
Confirm your airline's pet program before you book — every carrier publishes a slightly different cabin carrier limit, in-cabin pet count, and breed-restriction list. Browse the airline pet policies for the carrier you plan to fly, and review the guides library for country-specific import rules and carrier preparation tips. The information on this page is editorial and should be confirmed with the airport's official passenger services desk before travel.
